Older People Providers Network Meeting

The Network is a group of representatives from voluntary organisations and community groups providing services for older people (aged 50 plus); it meets about four times a year and aims are: To help providers share experiences, reduce overlaps in services and enable us to work more effectively together to meet the needs of older people in Westminster. To promote a better understanding of the development of the health and wellbeing agenda and its impact on the voluntary sector. To explore initiatives that might lead to collaborations and joint bidding for funding and contracts.

Please join on Wednesday 30th April, 10.00 to 11.30 (online via Zoom) when we will be hearing from groups representing global majority communities.

Background Info:

  • There are 26,200 residents aged 65 and over, a number expected to grow.
  • Almost half or Westminster residents identify as being from a global majority heritage, often facing additional barriers to accessing support.
  • One in three older residents lives alone, with approximately 11,900 individuals lacking immediate household support.
  • 1 in 5 residents aged 55+ reported feeling lonely, highlighting the urgent need for social connection and holistic wellbeing support.

These are hard hitting numbers and show how vital our work is.

The next meeting will be an opportunity for all of our members to hear about the work of organisations focussed on supporting groups within global majority communities.
